OUR "THING"

We believe rich plantings and timeless materials create inviting landscapes that stir the imagination and provide sense of arrival.  Our work artfully overlays our clients needs and a site's inherent qualities to create real places that celebrate the individuality of each.

Tyson Triplett

PRINCIPAL

Ty is a registered Landscape Architect in Connecticut and Rhode Island with a Masters in Landscape Architecture II, BS in Environmental Planning with a Focus in Landscape Architecture from Rutgers University and a BFA from New York University. During his academic career he was the recipient of the Cook Travel Prize and studied gardens, landscapes, and urban design throughout Italy and Germany, the ASLA Honor Award for excellence in the study of landscape architecture, and the Ted Stiles Ecological Internship where bushwhacking and inventorying a transect through a restored native meadow developed his love and understanding of native plants. His professional work experience includes residential, commercial, and public space design, ecological restoration, visioning and branding, and campus design. Under his previous employer, Anne Penniman, Ty was instrumental in the Elizabeth Park Inventory & Analysis and Vision Plan, numerous residential projects of various scales, resort and commercial projects, competition storytelling and graphics production, and brought his extensive native plant knowledge and horticultural expertise to the office. As an invited team member of Rutgers’ Center for Environmental Sustainability, Ty was involved with projects ranging from historic preservation and adaptive re-use to coastal resiliency and ecological enhancements on armored coastal infrastructure. During his professional and academic career he has been fortunate to have collaborated on projects that have garnered awards from the CTASLA, NJASLA, and National ASLA. Ty came to Landscape Architecture as a lover of landscapes, specifically gardens that embraced plants while providing spaces (stages) for living. On off-weekends you can find him tending his garden plot and orchids at Edgerton Park or (slowly) walking his geriatric redbone coonhound, Bama Sue. His passion for horticulture has provided him with wonderful opportunities, connections, and achievements over his career, including his most joyful accomplishment of receiving Best in Show of orchid entries - a dream since childhood - and the National Garden Club Medal for Horticulture at the prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show. Ty is an Accredited Judge with the American Orchid Society. He planted his first garden at the age of four with his grandfather and fell in love with the process and the promise. He's been designing and making landscapes ever since.

Ty is a Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) Certified Invasive Plant Manager.

Lain Lomery

LANDSCAPE

DESIGNER

Lain recently completed the MLA program at Rutgers University and holds a BS from SUNY - ESF, where she studied conservation biology and ornithology. Her graduate research highlighted the crucial role of landscape architecture and planting design in reducing bird-building collisions. As a graduate student, she was a recipient of the 2024 ASLA Honor Award for New Jersey. She is also the recipient of a 2023 Roy DeBoer Travel Prize, which allowed her to visit several northeastern National Wildlife Refuges along Interstate - 91 and conduct a study comparing migratory habitat quality to human disturbance levels. Through previous employment Lain has managed countless high-end residential landscape design projects in Morris County, NJ, and has assisted in the design and execution of numerous public parks and plazas in Yonkers.

Lain brings a wealth of ecological thinking and design experience to the table, and enjoys finding unique ways to highlight ecological processes through landscape design. Her past design projects have included large scale work with urban cityscapes, wetland restoration, and coastal resiliency, as well as smaller scale nature preserves, schoolgrounds, and residential gardens. Prior to entering the field of landscape design, Lain participated in numerous wildlife research projects with organizations including the Loon Project, New Jersey Audubon, and SUNY - Stonybrook. Her contributions to the Loon Project led to her first published co-authorship, which received a Harry R. Painton Award for outstanding ornithological research. Her additional research opportunities involved bird-building collision surveys, native vegetation surveys, and monitoring nests of federally endangered warbler species – all of which led to her interest in designing ecologically considerate and wildlife-friendly habitat. Whether across multiple acres or a single garden bed, Lain looks forward to designing residential garden spaces that best represent client interests while also blending seamlessly into local landscape dynamics.

Bama Sue

Bama brings her keen sense of smell and love of treats to the office.  She views everyday as an opportunity to fully live the phrase "Ain't nothin' but a hound dog, cryin' all the time".
